Children’s Ministry Director

Overview: Good Shepherd is seeking to hire a Director of Children’s Ministry called “Living 4 Jesus” or L4J. This person would oversee the care and spiritual growth of babies through 6th grade by utilizing a team of church volunteers.

Main Responsibilities:

• Create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for all children and volunteers.
• Prepare curriculum lessons for Sunday school teachers.
• Recruit, train, engage, and schedule all volunteers.
• Oversee the setup, tear down, and cleanliness of all space devoted to children.
• Continually assess the needs of L4J space and resources, making improvements and changes where needed.

Other Administrative Duties:

• Attend GS Staff meetings each Monday from 11am-12pm.
• Correspond with GS Staff via email, text, and phone.
• Regularly update and communicate with your staff supervisor and GS parents.
• Maintain records for all volunteer information, applications, and background checks.
• Purchase and prepare supplies needed for L4J ministry.
• Oversee the L4J budget, recording, and reporting of expenditures to the Church Administrator.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have sound understanding of basic, biblical teachings.
• Must have a genuine love for children and their families.
• Must have experience working with children and parents.
• Must be able to clearly communicate, humbly lead, and effectively organize.
